I grew up and went to school in the Port Hope/Cobourg area of Northumberland County, Ontario, and always have had a love for the outdoors and adventure.
I was either hiking through the woods with a 35mm camera or on a mountain bike. I am currently living and working as a hospitality professional and photographer in the city of Toronto.
My introduction to the canoe was with a friend and his older brother; who was an avid canoeist with a strong belief in traditional canoe craft – cedar canvas canoe and doing a portage once.
We spent a weekend in the Kawartha highlands and I was hooked. I bought a fiberglass canoe and would explore the Kawarthas all through high school.
When I moved back to Canada I rekindled my love for the canoe by exploring Algonquin Provincial Park as time permits.
Recently I hiked La Cloche Silhouette Trail in Killarney Provincial Park and can’t wait to see it again.
My hospitality career has taken me throughout the United States; where my hobby of photography turned into a passion.
I've shot the odd wedding, but mostly enjoy shooting outdoor/landscape photography and bands.
I love capturing the story with available light using fast lenses.
These days I mostly shoot one of my digital SLR's; but also enjoy shooting with one of my medium format film cameras- there’s just something about 120 film.
We started Quick Escapes with the intention to share some of our adventures in hopes we would inspire others to try something new.
I am by no means a professional adventurer, and, with my love of craft beers; not always in peak physical form to do some of the stuff I do.
For me this site is also a motivator. If you have an adventure you’d like to share with us please get in touch!
